Survivor Week 7: The Play-By-Play (SPOILER!!)

March 10, 2001

Go, Jeff! go find Kimmi and ram a burger down her throat! As Mike was leaving to get his hands reattached or something like that, he told his tribe that he wanted someone from Kucka to be the winner. Jeff then told us that Kimmi (damn annoying vegetarian! -Ed.) was the one who had let Ogakor know that he had one vote against him, courtesy of Debb, from the first tribal council. Jeff knew that this information could be used against him. In fact, if there was to be a five-five tie, as they anticipated, that one vote would cost him dearly. Kucha's plan was to first vote off Colby and then vote off Jerri. Tina, according to Jeff, was a shrewd woman who would let nothing get by her. So he said Ogakor's weak links were Amber and Keith.

Over at Ogakor, they all sat around still very nervous about the treemail that told them someone had gotten hurt at Kucha. Jerri wondered aloud if Rodger maybe had a stroke, which caused Tina to stare at her in disbelief (What, like she's not used to Jerri's bitchiness and tactfulness right now? -Ed.). They expected a 5-5 vote in the tribal council as well. This was where the poker game began, because Jerri knew that if she or Keith received five votes from Kucha, they would be gone. A treemail then told them that it was going to be a "Boy's Night Out." The men of Ogakor were going to take a trip to Kucha's camp to scout out how Kucha was living. If you remember back to the first "Survivor," this was the moment when the remaining Survivors had to choose which tribe's camp to live at.

Kucha got the opposite treemail, which said "Girls' Night Out," meaning Alicia and Elisabeth were to head over to Ogakor's camp. The Kucha men then decided to sacrifice the final chicken, thinking they'd be entertaining the ladies of Ogakor. The comedic element was given to us when we saw the men greet the men, and the girls greet the girls.

At Ogakor, the Kucha women carefully explained Mike's injury and the impact that it had had on the team. And at Kucha, the men had set up a nice little table and created a dinner party atmosphere (Wow, they were really expecting to get some from those Ogakor girls, huh? -Ed.). Jeff made the observation that Colby was all teeth and Keith was more like a puppy dog that followed Colby around. Back at Ogakor, a sprinkling of rain hit and Jerri covered their fire with a pot because she realized that Keith had taken the matches with him. You could just tell she was itching to run him down in front of Elisabeth and Alicia. Tsk-tsk. Anyhow, while the girls chowed down on measly tortilla and canned tomatoes, the men devoured the last chicken.

The next morning, "Survivor" threw a curveball when they told the two tribes that they were moving to a completely new camp. This information didn't sit well with the guys, who had become really comfortable at the Kucha site. After a two-hour hike, the guys were reunited with the girls at the new site. A crate awaited them with instructions on how to build a new flag and decide on a new tribe name. And inside the crate were a plate of crackers, what appeared to be brie, fruit, and wine. Nick got perturbed at the fact that everyone immediately dug in and didn't seem too concerned about sharing the food. Meanwhile, as everyone drank wine, Jeff noticed the Ogakor tribemates were having little meetings, as if pointing out whom they were going to vote off next (Is it possible they could have just been deciding whom they wanted to sleep with first? Sheesh! Talk about paranoid! -Ed.).

The next morning, the one big, happy tribe got to work on their camp and decided on a new tribe name - Barramundi - a fish that was indigenous to the region. And the tribe's first immunity challenge was a simple one, an endurance challenge. The Survivors had to stand on poles in a lake; the last person standing would win.

Nick was the first person to give up, telling us that he hadn't been feeling too good the past few days. Colby soon followed his lead. At the four-hour mark, Jeff Probst came out with peanut butter, chocolate, and apple slices to tempt the players to throw in the towel. Rodger was the next to go; the peanut butter was too much to resist. At just under seven hours, Jeff came out with ice cream and hot chocolate. That was all it took for Jerri and Amber to bail out (Remember their chocolate sex conversation? 'Nuff said), leaving Alicia, Elisabeth, Keith, and Tina standing. At eight hours, Jeff lighted fires near the poles to keep the Survivors warm. At that point, Elisabeth said that she would jump if Jeff brought out a boat, which he did at hour nine. After 10 hours and 17 minutes, Alicia agreed to a boat ride to the shore after being promised hot chocolate or coffee. Then Keith got Tina to let him win because he figured he was marked for elimination. (What a wussie way to win! -Ed.)

All this led to the tribal council. The poker game came to a head when Colby and Jeff each received five votes. Here was where Ogakor's strategy paid off. Knowing Jeff had at least one vote against him, they all voted against him. After a second round of votes, which resulted in a five-all tie, Jeff was eliminated because of that one strike he had against him from the very first tribal council. Suddenly, after being completely demoralized two episodes prior, Ogakor was now in the driver's seat. Stay tuned to see how well Ogakor maneuvers their way to victory!

Cheers,
j
