Survivor Week 8: The Play-By-Play (SPOILER!!)
March 10, 2001

What a difference two episodes make! With Jeff gone, Kucha started
this week down five people to four. Rodger started the day off tending
the fire with Alicia who commented that each time they go near it,
they will think of Mike. Rodger then headed to the fishing hole where
he amazingly catches fish after fish (can you say "Fishing with Rodger" on the Outdoor Network??). He then mentioned that he had the old theory that he who provides the food wont get booted.
Keith said he was proud that the Ogakor members were in a prime position to make it farther along the path towards the million dollars. However, he expressed concern that as he gets closer to members of the Kucha Tribe, he may find himself shifting his votes. This entire monologue was done over shots of Rodger and Keith heading out to fish. Here, Rodger told Keith that he thought someone from Ogakor would win the million. Keith then told Rodger not to count himself out just yet.
In came Jerri, who told us she was feeling separated from the rest of the tribe. She knew that Tina and Keith could easily move over to Kucha's side and vote her out. Then Tina told us about Jerri's need to have the rice cooked her specific (translation: anal) way. Which was a segway into Elisabeth cooking the rice while Jerri watched her every move. Elisabeth then made the point that "She's making you dinner - why are you bitching? You can go get your own food." Afterwards, Tina burned Jerri by saying out loud that she would cook the rice, but she didn't want to be judged. Ooooh…The plot thickens.
The next morning, when Rodger, Alicia and Elisabeth (Nick was mysteriously not on camera much of this episode and never even had a soundbite) talked, Rodger and Alicia had all but given up but Elisabeth refused to quit. She knew they had to play dirty to win and break up the alliance. She had no trouble spotting the friction between Jerri and Keith and knew they could use this to their advantage. She tested the waters by venting about Jerri and her actions from the previous night to get a feel about who might be willing to vote against her.
Then reward challenge time came. During this challenge, the players had to toss a boomerang and have it come as close as possible to the centre of a circle marked by a flag. The winner would get a huge dinner of seafood, vegetables, dessert, and much more. Alicia was the first to throw and land a decent mark; no one came close to beating her until Jerri landed a good shot. Amber came close to doing so her but Jerri won the meal. Then Jerri was given the choice of a dinner companion, and she picked Amber.
Back at camp, Barramundi served up rice and they all vented about
Jerri, giving Elisabeth hope as she cracked out a can of spaghetti. Meanwhile, over at the fancy dinner, Jerri and Amber commented about how they thought that Tina had changed since the tribes merged and now considered her and Keith to be threats. They knew they had to talk to Colby and get him back into their fold in order to be more secure.
When Jerri and Amber got back, none of the remaining Survivors made
eye contact, which made Amber feel uncomfortable. When they got asked what was for dessert, neither of them responded. They said that they didn't want to make people feel bad, but Tina burned Jerri again by saying that they shouldn't worry, since they were having fun without the two of them.
Colby then decided that he needed some private time and headed for the river. Jerri soon joined him. She told him that she thought Tina and Keith were going to break the alliance. Colby told her not to worry because Keith and Tina had been planning to go to the final four with him all along. Amber joined them and Colby played up to Jerri's ego by telling her that the three of them controlled the tribe. In a hysterical bit, Colby told us he was lying to Jerri, but didn't mind because it was Jerri. Hee-haw!
Then immunity challenge time came. It was a version of the game "Dots." Each person would take a turn connecting two dots on a map. Should you complete a square, you would get a second turn to complete another square or make it harder for your opponents to do so. Keith scored the most with a big seventeen. Tina came close with sixteen valuable squares but no one could top Keith's score and he won immunity for the second straight week.
The tribal council held a bit of a suspense in the hopes that maybe
Keith or Tina would break stride and Jerri would be ousted. But in another close vote, 5-4, Alicia was voted out over Jerri. As Jerri put it, she liked Alicia, but Alciia scared the guys and the girls in the tribe.
Next week is a cheezy best of type filler show, so we'll have to wait two weeks to see the next episode.
Cheers,
