Renee Zellweger co-stars as a woman who stays at [Jim Carrey's] side for no apparent reason except that the script requires her to.
Not! Those two totally had chemistry on screen. They should've had a hot sex scene! ;)
The movie must think all African Americans are required by statute or genetics to repeat the MF-word ceaselessly.
True, true. Jim Carrey's sons swear way too much. It was amusing at first, but even we got offended after a while.
The plot is murky.
Yeah, but you don't really go to this type of movie for the plot, which isn't that bad, as compared to other mindless gag movies.

Not many of the jokes are very funny, and some seem plain desperate.
Some of the jokes were funny, Ebert. Where's your sense of humour, man??

Irene, the Zellweger character, has not been invented fresh with a specific comic purpose, but is simply a recycled version of the character she usually plays.
Hey, we thought she was pretty funny at times. It's not like she sign-languaged "You complete me" to Jim Carrey's character or anything. We wonder if he had her at "hello"?
